Dylan went out of his way to drive to Ft. Pierce to meet Gary and tell him how great he thought of this song. Wow. Watching this video I learned that I moved to Ft. Pierce and have been living here since the month Gary took his life. Such a loss. I understand why he loved it here, though.

Gary Stewart had the ability to make you feel every word in his songs. Some of us lived most of what he was singing about. Drinking, dancing, divorces, cheating and getting cheated on. All great country songs have at least one of these in it. Think about it. Gary covered all of them in his music. Thanks Gary and RIP.

This song was what kept me going through many years. Love Gary, Vern, George & Conway. They sang about life as it was for country people. Too bad most of the new ones think country is a pair of boots. New country ain't country!

This was almost certainly Gary's best song although he had a handful of songs that charted higher. A lot of people love this song.

saw him in WPB in the 80s. got his lp which I still have. he is real country/honky tonk. I heard he lived and died in Fort Pierce, FL. I don't like the new so-called country artists, but Gary was/is a favorite of mine.

God I miss those times We listened to Gary Stewart on road trips I sure wish He would not have Killed Himself. George Jones had hit songs until the day He died it could have been the same for Gary Stewart.

If anyone can find a better, more genuine honky tonk singer on this planet, then bring him or her on. Gary is the greatest c/w singer of the past 35 years. I am currently working on a screenplay of his life entitled AN EMPTY GLASS. RIP, Great Gary.
