Neil Peart is less fluid and less likely to improvise which suits the music of Rush very well. Ian Paice would not be an ideal replacement in Rush but would probably do okay but Neil Peart with Deep Purple or Gary Moore? I doubt it would work on any level and there is no way that NP would be able to play Hurricane even with two bass drums at this speed. It is not that he is not as good, he is just a different type of drummer.

nazzare79 , Don't think he is underrated , just not as good as Neil Peart , personal opinion of course, listen to the original Colliseum 11 track with Jon Hiseman , excellent drummer as well ..and check out Jeff Procaro of the Procaro shuffle fame ..superb ..gone too soon

People rate J.Bonham and N.Pert better than Paice...that makes him underrated....

have you been hiding under a rock? Ian Paice is a legend!

Underrated? I yet have to find one good drummer that does not praise Ian Paice and would be glad to be fucked by him as well...
