Alcoholics are a strange lot, I know. You can talk to them until your blue in the face, They just don't get it ! The compulsion is just too great ! These chronic offenders need to do real hard time. It's the only way to dry them out and then there no guarantee they will stay sober. Some will, most won't .

11/09/84 my 22 year old beautiful young wife was killed by a drunk driver. He died too, he had been drinking 10 cent drafts for about 6 hours, it would have been his 4th DWI , he had one conviction, two pending, and,he still had a drivers license.

sad song. Gary Allen really dishes it out quite good. What can one say about drinking and driving. It all ends in a sad story eventually. Many broken hearts and shattered dreams down the drain. Great back up band no doubt . mosrite60

I lived this song. Found a pickup truck upside down in a ditch. The mans legs were sticking out from under the tailgate where he had been ejected from truck and somehow ended up under the bed. I picked the back of the truck up enough that a friend could pull him out. He was alive and had blood bubbling from the mouth. I tried to keep him talking and alive but he died before paramedics arrived. It's been 10 years and I still can't forget his face and the whiskey on his breath as he died.

I know this was a couple years ago song but:I think of my cousin who died in a car wreck at only 22years of age he was partying and well he was ignorant and got in his car and drove home he never made it home he fail asleep against the wheel and hit head on with a midsized Honda he was killed by the motor not the fire. I know he was stupid and was wrong but I still blame the women for his death he had a designated driver to drive him home but she didn't want to leave the party she watched him grab his keys and walk out she didn't even try to stop him.I blame the women for his death also his part to but mostly her as if she would have stopped him I would still have a cousin to this day he leaves behind family that loved him very much and still miss him till this day he also left behind a Rottweiler.I also lost my aunt about 4 months ago and I miss her till this day she died of pills that she had to take because of her weight problem but she had a 80 to 10 percent that the pills was going to kill her and well we talked to her one day and she was gone from me the next we didn't even get to say good bye I loved her very much and I miss her till this day. I lost My great grandmother at 101 years old about 5 months ago I thought she was always going to be here to watch my children grow up she practically raised me when I was a child as I was always over there. when I needed her she was always there for me when I am 26 years old women still cry when I remember the month she passed away I knew she wasn't going to live forever but i always thought she would be here for me when i had kids but i know they are all looking down from heaven watching over me but it still hurts.

When I was little this was mine and my grandmothers song. We would listen to it all the time. AlthoughbI had no idea what the songs lyrics meant, I knew the song by heart. Now that my grandma is gone, I listen to this song and let everything out as if she was here. This is one truly amazing song.

Talk about a tear-jerker, but not for the guy who was drunk & wrecked- good riddance! NEVER FEEL BAD FOR A SELFISH DRUNK!! I lost my own life when my husband died; murdered, hit head-on on a bridge on a 2-lane highway with no escape. I 'walked' away from the unrecognizable heap that didn't even look like a human could fit in it. The drunk never spent a day in jail, no ticket, didn't lose his license, and my own life ended on that day, 30 yrs ago. He killed TWO people; I ALMOST had brought our dog with us, too. My own lawyer, after I sent him to that po-dunk town, told me that I was just trying to make life hard for other people now. Said the guy only had a few cars, a lil ol boat & his wife was ready to take the kids & leave him because of his drinking- & I was supposed to feel bad for HIM. ME: no car; no husband; no kids; no boat- all the possibilities in my life were STOLEN from me. I've spent every moment of the rest of my days in this hell praying for release. Life, for some~ does NOT go on. For "others;" it's just another day another dollar another drunk. Thanks, all of you drunks- I blame you ALL. Watch your keys- if I get my hands on em, you'll be walking home. If I know what you're driving- You'll be replacing a motor & all 4 tires.
