In response to karmabrigade (loving your taste dude - shit - kickin' music, Physics AND subversion, colega! Not necessarily in that (or any other) order...a heady cocktail and my own preferred tipple... I was living in a squat in Shepherd's Bush and me and my buddies went up to this cramped little Record Shop near the 'Bella' (The Portobello Road to the non - scoundrels...) ,that sold fanzines like Sniffin' Glue and had a whole wall plastered in DIY - designed 7" record sleeves, always different, and - on paydays (usually) we'd go round and buy the ones my tuned-in friend Andy, (may he rest etc...xx) and a handful of mouthy music journos (- remember the NME anyone?) as well as the shop (Rough Trade it was called...) staff recommended... and of course, the ones we'd heard and loved on Peelie (may he also rest, etc.) Sigh, how often have I thought wistfully of the life of opulence I lost by not hanging on to them all - Spiral Scratch, EMI Anarchy - all the valuable ones. Financially I mean, because in a much more intrinsic and enduring way so much of it was and is valuable. This EP was my first exposure to the wonderful and unique GoF and remains my favourite. It's closer to their live sound, too. Unlike Entertainment which at the time disappointed a good number of their fans by being further still from capturing their live edge...A full - on Classic.
