I have to commend Futurecop! for taking a risk, and diving into themes that don't exactly cater to the typical retrowave aesthetic. It seems like online opinions are polarized, but generally positive in reception. It IS different! It's a good thing. But more so, I think what these guys are doing is important for the genre (which is always at risk of creative stagnation). The community can push dance tunes to cutting edge sound and do yet another vid with lasers and 80s supercars, but if there's nothing else, that well feels tapped dry to me. And this is coming from a fan of the genre.I might be wrong, but what I think these boys are exploring is the 80's attempt at capturing the human spirit in cinema, but without relying on iconic images of the time. There can be more to the genre than vhs effects and laser grids ... something more timeless and relatable. People don't love Princess Bride or Jim Henson because of retro tech/hair/axe guitars etc.Can the sound grow up with the fanbase, or am I missing the point of it all?6 years ago

Great song, video is great but doesn't visually match imo, unfortunately I could not find myself liking this video when met with the ethereal melodies from futurecop while combining the visuals to the music.6 years ago

This video is so sweet, and absolutely has an '80s aesthetic. The sweeping "helicopter" landscape shots, the dead-center shots of people looking directly at the camera, the super simple story...I remember seeing so many videos with this feel when I was a kid. I was actually marveling at how nowadays someone accomplished such a quality video with likely a drone and relatively inexpensive equipment, and that's fantastic to me. Video fits the music perfectly, and as much as I love me some dirty cyberpunk vibes, this is a welcome break. :)Related Videos
