I thought a VIP was a different version of a track but only given to VIP people

haha very well put! but alot of vips are actually just remixed versions of the producers toon. regardless it is what it is and no reason to bitch about it.

@Errahdub No it'd just be Skream - Dutch Flowerz (remix) and you see that often. I'm afraid this Variation In Production idea is just misinformation that's floated around the internet and people now incorrectly think it's correct.

@StimpyDan Because remixes are usually one producer 'remixing' another. VIP is when the original producer remixes them self. It would be a stupid title for example: Skream - Dutch Flowerz (Skream Remix). Instead, its Skream - Dutch Flowerz (V.I.P. or V.I.P. Mix). I do understand your point where only special producers/DJs could get their hands on V.I.P. mixes. That would make sense.

@Errahdub If you think about it, all remixes are "variations in production".... well then why aren't all remixes called v.i.p. mixes? Because it doesn't actually stand for Variation In Production, it stands for Very Important Person and traditionally these mixes never came out but were given to important DJ's in the scene only.

@Errahdub Yes in production it's the same, just as I explained already.

@StimpyDan Not in production. VIP in music production stands for Variation in Production. Which is basically a remix of a track by the original producer.

@TheSummerSituation no vip stands for very important person as normal, traditionally vip mixes of tunes never came out and were only given to a few vip's in the scene to dj. However eventually people just started sticking vip on a remix to make it sound special and try and sell more records.
