Rick James, Chaka Khan and all the rest with songs about Hollowood, (you too Bootsy), pay attention. George Clinton has the best version: Holly wants to go to California, CA...Holly's got a heavenly body. Holly got a beautiful mind and she's the star of the party, yet she's still missing something.

George and Billy Joel would make a great duet. Both being do-wop

Also cross-reference with "Hollywood" on George Clinton's "Hey Man, Smell My Finger."

Solos like this one tears the church down with praises.

Yes, the song does have its origins in the church. Church is the starting point for some of our great AFAM singers. Ray Charles was judged harshly for this type of music in his early beginnings.

Cross reference this with "Holly" by Smokey Robinson...1970's to get the complete picture of what young, fine, black sisters were and still are going through! Jez my opinion...no comments necessary.

Agreed. First and foremost George is a singer. He's got a unique voice and he stretches the shit out of it here, kinda like a Jazz or blues singer might, hitting dissonant notes and going for the pure emotion with blue notes and reckless abandon
