Sharing the lyrics: (1st Verse) Pleasure's the motivation for the human race..Everything starts and end with sex and appeal..Feeling good is the bait Satan use to fish for you and me..Comfort is the poison when it's the spirit he wants to kill.---(Chorus) There's a tidal wave of mysticism surging through our jet-age generation..said it's all designed to take us to the sky. (2nd Verse) There's such a need for us to feel nice and it's getting better..We got to have it more than we ought to..The preacher keeps promising satisfaction..The ladies keep giving up gratification You know what..I'm feeling better by the pound..Yeah..(Chorus) Tidal wave of mysticism surging through our jet-age generation..said it's all designed to take us to the sky.. Know what..I'm feeling better by the pound..I'm feeling better by the pound. (3rd Verse) Joyful is this Hocus Pocus that's haunting all mankind..Satan can be what he needs to be you see...He and only.. he is safe..He who is truly free..Free from the need to be free..yeah..yeah..yea (Chorus)There's a tidal wave of mysticism surging through our jet-age generation.. Said it's all designed to take us to the sky..You know what..I'm feeling better by the pound...I'm feeling better by the pound.

*Better By The Pound*--*Funkadelic*I love P-Funk and this is one of my favorites. I dig Parliament as well, but I like the harder edge of Funkadelic a bit more. For those unfamiliar with Parliament and Funkadelic they're more or less two different faces of the same band, run by ringmaster and funk supremo George Clinton and his gang of merry funksters. Parliament is generally a more dance/disco kind of funk, Funkadelic is generally more of a rock/rhythm and blues funk, although they overlap quite a bit. Enjoy!

It's so funny how there are so many diverse interpretations of what the song means and yet all have a potentially valid viewpoint. How genius is that? When I first heard it back in the 70's, I thought it was deeply spiritual account as to what was happening in the world thus far and "feeling better by the pound" was referring to weed or cocaine( both of what was highly used in the 70"s) in order to escape the chaos and evils of society. Within the chorus lines...."There's a tidal wave of mysticism surging through our jet-aged generation...It's all designed to take us to the sky". To me this meant death is inevitable for when we die we our spirits go to the sky. You must listen closely to the verses then the chorus makes more sense. No matter what we do here on earth, there is a force present and it's set up that in the end...we die. So why not get high...feeling better by the pound. Just sharing how I saw it. This is some brilliant song writing. It sparked conversation this many years later.

Stop spreading hate and lies. Mothership Connection was something he came up when thinking about a concept for an album, "a place you don't normally see black people"... and he thought of space.

No my friend, another "Pound"...Think about it. Clinton & the '70's counterculture. "There's a tide-wave of mysticism surging through our jet-age generaaaaaation. Saaaid it's all desiiiiiigned to take us to the skkkyyyy. You know what??? I'm feeling better by the Pooooounnnnnd-da, I'm feeling better by the Pound-da."

Are we not all righteous if we are all of the same race? The human race! I think the original point made sense though, I can't see the righteous white people being taken if all the white people were seen as the wicked. I do like to imagine a mothership full of ALL the righteous funky human beans though, what a vision!

ANSWER ' NO ' THEY DO NOT. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS WHITE PEOPLE OR BLACK PEOPLE FOR THAT MATTER, THERE IS ONLY ONE RACE { PEOPLE OF COLOR ARE THE RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE }

I hear you but there are a lot of people who want the same relief from this bullshit and Mr. Clinton gave them hope for a better future.
