According to Carl Bell (the man who wrote the song) this song is about a failed relationship due to the girlfriend being distant and there being no communication in the relationship. She left the note to leave him and end the relationship, when he says "she spilled her coffee....." he is being sarcastic. Well, I'm having a bad day again. Especially on May 5th - Cinco de Mayo - which triggers very bad and traumatic memories for me. I remember this song from a long time ago, & the band, Fuel. This song & the music video are good. It's sad that the gal died in this video. :-(
