That depends on your comfort factor, man. You can surely try it with a cable hat rig or switch your kit around altogether. LOTS of lefties play 'open handed' on right hand setups (playing the hats with their left hand) Carter Beauford, Simon Philips, Billy Cobham, Will Kennedy, etc. I'd probably just suggest working on your right hand on the 'ol practice pad. This can simply be done by playing some rudiments starting with your weak hand. This should help get your hands more even over time.

Mr. Rob, I'm left handed and have been playing for 20 years. I have never had a lesson, I learned by playing music through headphones and figuring out the beat. I come from a family of musicians and it came naturally. I've been watching ur lessons and practicing them but my left hand is strong and right not that much. I am practicing with my right to make it stronger but should I switch my hi hat to the right side?

I'm definitely going to use this lick. I been trying to coordinate my hand/foot fills and this will step my game up. Thanks for the vid!

Hey Rob.....I really enjoy your videos...I admire your musicality and great feel you exude. Your practical and efficient philosophy is refreshing vs. much of the other rhetoric out there in the drum education universe. It's apparent that you care about 'paying it forward' as you seem genuinely sincere about helping others by sharing your knowledge/wisdom. Thanks man...keep up the great work! "Z"
