In 1982 Frida released her solo album "Something's Going On" and went to a Danish TV show called "Rundt om Skoller", where she performed two songs from her solo album and also sang a couple of other songs not from her new album. She was also interviewed by the host Eddie Skoller, once married to Sissel Kyrkjebø. In the show was also the famous Norwegian comedian Rolv Wesenlund - known as "Fleksnes".

Frida here perform "I Know There's Something Going On".

Other songs from this show can be found on my channel:

Do people whining about lip-synching not know the difference between a proper concert and a TV appearance in a studio? To recreate or get close to the sound of a produced and mixed record would require the full band and backing singers to turn up. Hardly practical for just song or two when the artist is doing the rounds from one show to another promoting the album. On the 'Something's Going On' album Frida did her own backing vocals as well as Phil Collins.

Yep there was no autotune in 82. Doubletaping was how everyone gave their voice more body and depth or did the chorus effect with one singer.

Still have the reel to reel tape I recorded this song onto in 1983. Also have the console stereo with the built in reel to reel machine. I played the tape recently and it hasn't faded in 30 years and the stereo is over 40 years old.

Of course it's lip synched. Almost all of Frida's, Agnetha's and ABBA's TV appearances were, as were most of Bananarama's, Bucks Fizz's, Kim Wilde's, and any pop artist of that era. Even now, most of the time, acts mime because there's no risk of them hitting a bum note or getting lost in the song (even though Frida often did - even in this performance!). It's easier for artistes too if they're making numerous appearances in the same day, as they often do.

You're quite right, neither Agnetha nor Frida were terribly gifted in the dance arena! Even when they were choreographed (specifically for SOS, So Long and Dancing Queen, I recall) they often forgot the moves, and ended up facing the wrong way or in the wrong position, and eventually ditched the dance routines altogether, which I think was a great shame, as sometimes, they stood awkwardly, or attempted just to move in time with the song, but looked at odds with each other.

Not autotuned at all. The effect you hear is "doubletaping" where Frida records her vocals twice, to give it a more full sound. Frida also had the ability to alter her vocal tune from her soft, breathy, velvety and vibrato filled sound to this harder, non-vibrato, nasal sound, and anything in between, giving her many different facets to her wonderful voice. She was pitch perfect, and rarely needed more than one take to record.

Frida is an amazing singer but sucks at dancing. The hooha of her great dancing skills is all made-up by starry eyed fans. The solo dance she did in the last live concert was just as akwardly amateurish as this. She only looked good dancing next to Agnetha who was even worse, lol. Frida is a gifted singer and should stick to that.

No, not autotuned. There are other effects used for her backing vocals.
