On this day in 1963 {January 11th} Freddy Cannon performed "If You Were A Rock 'N Roll Record" on the late Dick Clark's "American Bandstand'... Three months earlier on October 24th, 1960 it entered Billboard's Hot top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #74 and spent 4 weeks on the Top 100... And exactly one year later on January 11th, 1964 he once again appeared on Bandstand and performed "Abigail Beecher" {it peaked at #16}... R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...

LOL. I have 2 greatest hits CDs of Freddy. I love his music. Very loud and punchy. I am sure he would be great to meet.

Bad dad! I saw and spoke with him in 2000, a friendly guy. Only thing he turned up the sound stack up too loud for my delicate ears during the concert.

thanks. she almost got a chance to see him in concert in Brattleboro, VT ( I am not sure when) But my dad didn't let her go. I think this was possibly in the mid to late 60's.

The very first album cover is the one my mom has. Also where I got introduced to Freddy's music growing up. Very punchy. Freddy "boom boom" cannon was known for this.

Freddy did 2 versions of this song - this is by far the best. Catch him in the UK in November!
