The harsh reality of most nightclubs, restaurants and ballrooms of this time is that black acts could perform in them but regular black people weren't allowed in them like white people especially if the owner was white. Yet still its as if black performers were restricted to the stage, they couldn't sit down near or go where white people could go.

In fact, the late Philadelphia disc jockey Hy Lit called him the Michael Jackson of the 50's.

Lip-syncing, no doubt, but what an entertainer. The studio recording of this gem is priceless. Frankie was one of a kind. All the talent shows on TV nowadays and no one even comes close, although that beautiful little Dutch girl Amira sure has talent.
