For a minute there, I thought I was in an alternate universe and was thinking "I don't remember *The Philiadelphia Story* being a musical." Then it hit me: *High Society,* duh! Both were classics.

I love these characters but I hate Grace Kelly's character in this; sure she's pretty but she's a bitch who doesn't deserve Dexter (think that's his name; I forget).

i'm only here because in an episode of rosemary and thyme, Laura said "who wants to be a millionaire?" and Rosemary said, "Do you want me to sing now?" lol

Pretty much every musical film is lip synched - would be an awful bitch to get a 30+ piece orchestra on the studio lot, to get perfect sound from both them and the singers and for the singers to keep dancing at the same time.

Thanks for posting! This sequence is imprinted on my memory: They don't normally place reel changes in the middle of a musical number but here they did. In the (not so) old days we screened 35mm prints properly ie: with changeovers between reels. The 'cue dots' (absent in this clip) may be legendary now, but were essential to the poor projectionist slaving away over his hot carbon arcs (screens were bigger then)!! Motor is around 1:36 and changeover at 1:46 (give or take a frame or two)!
