I'm surprised that the recent American Masters documentary on Bing Crosby didn't include a clip from this Sammy Cahn Jimmy Van Heusen song from Robin And The Seven Hoods. Sinatra and Martin both idolized Crosby and he was the forerunner of their style of conversational singing.9 years ago

This musical sequence from "Robin And The Seven Hoods" with music by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen is the highlight of the entire film. As for the film itself, even for a devoted Sinatra / Martin fan, I find it to be almost unwatchable. Sinatra clearly wanted to do a musical in the genre of "Guys and Dolls" however, that show had a classic book and score by Frank Loesser. This was a low rent version.Related Videos
