my dad used to play this on his banjo uke and sing this song. that was 83 years agoI always thought it was some kind of parody he made up. but now I know that it was for real. thanks for setting me straight

My Dad was no singer, but he would entertain us by singing this song. I was telling my nephew about it and he found this rendition on line. I had guessed from how old my Dad was that this song was from the 20s or 30s. I was thrilled that he found it for me and it actually brought tears to my eyes. My Dad loved to sing this song.

Goodness! What a find! Can't stop laughing. This would have been a perfect song for the late great Diz Disley to cover (maybe some smartypants is going to pipe in and tell me he did). Just love the way the instruments and percussion enhance the comic effect. Brilliant!
