Good gawd, this guy has always been 'there' when everywhere else it was all just so much green corn. If they are not still writing about this man a hundred years from now, my sad heart would guess they inherited a green corn legacy. Gotta figure though, frank would come out of the parted clouds with those Cecil B De mile rays of Divine deliverance in blinding glory around. But it would just be Frank coming up with another tune and the need to go "Okay, okay so,listen to this..."

I don't know what it is about this song and this performance, but sheesh. It really does something to me. The melody is so catchy, so heartfelt and expressive, and so sort of mathematically interesting all at once. Frank Black often drops the 4th measure in chord progressions in the chorus... here, when he plays 4 chords, it sounds just as rebellious... he's rebelling against his own tendency. Having that forth chord, the minor 3 chord, by itself with no melody over it almost emphasizes that...and that chord is just so sad and defiant by itself. I love the way he uses uneven measures in other places here... and the arrangement is clever and inventive, the lyrics are the perfect compliment.... its a compact piece of genius.

Ya it doesn't seem fair, but none of them are nearly as wealthy in the awsomeness department. Frank Black simply writes the best music with the best lyrics. The sheer number of great songs and albums this guy has produced is ridiculous. I feel wealthy just having all of his great material to listen to.

So true, smirch. He's wicked talented and yet far less talented people somehow garner more attention and money. Life is unfair.

I wish this guy got even half the money that morons like Beiber and Swift get.

Frank is always a little obscure when it comes to lyric meanings. What this evokes in a poetic sense is energy. A wire is something you attach to bring power to appliances, its dangerous to touch because you get shocked. Yet being energized is a good thing. So there is duality there. We need energy to go about our days, we like when people are exciting and energetic and bring moments of "electricity" to our lives. But as always take what you need from Frank's lyrics, and that changes.
