The amp has a quite wide range of tones it can produce, meaning that theres quite a lot of wrong tones it can produce. It can be shrill, it can be too dark, it can be too growly, it can be too muddy. But if you actually take the time to set it up for the gear that runs into it, it can sound pretty damn good, a lot of bottom, a lot of definition, immediate attack, that smooth marshally grit to it, and even a small amount of soft sag at higher gains. You got to find the sweet spot every time and that is not a bad thing, it could mean that everything you put into it has its own settings that will sound different but very very nice! Also there is not a lot of noise surprisingly. For those saying the crunch channel is so much better than lead... well they mostly sound the same, the lead is softer and maybe a tad darker, plus it gives you a very nice woody, marshall feel to it, I dont really think its any less enjoying to play than the crunch... The manufacturer's choice of greenbacks is also not a coincidence to be honest. Not a mesa killer, someone who wants a mesa must buy a mesa.As far as reliablity goes, they use the same high quality PCBs and hand soldering as most high end amp manufacturers, the vinyl seems to be crappy though...

I just traded my EVH 50 Watt III for this amp last night...SO MUCH thump and bottom end.....thisis VERY Brutal, between the 6505+ and the Framus....the framus is much DEEPER than the Peavey but just has brutal lol. LOVE IT! MESA KILLER FOR SURE!

This is a weird amp. SLO rip off for the most part but with a changed tonestack to the more hi fi baxandall with an added mid control (the normal baxandall doesn't need/use one). A bit flat, dull versus the SLO etc. Tighter also. KSE sound in a sense.

Yeah the maxon OD808 is a great weapon. I can't live without mine, it is like difference between riffing with my bridge and neck pickup!

Cobras are as reliable as ENGLs - not more and not less. Both are hand made in Germany.

Will someone tell me how to dial in a solo tone with this amp? It sounds great, but when I play on the higher frets, it just sounds terrible.

My buddy has a Framus Cobra and it kicks ass. Great sounds and a brutal bottom end.

Harsh PCB beast,I just do not dig all those German amps,I am always coming back to my Rectifier,I own Diezel Herbert but it is just not my thing as far as the melodic part of it.

I find the mid knob on these amps seriously odd. It just adds low mids, at least with the Mesa 4x12 cab I have. If you turn it up too much, your sound becomes muddy. Makes me think if the matching cab would remedy this issue.

It sounds great doing thrash/death metal but it sounds like it would do a great job on the Jake E. Lee or Zakk Wylde sound also. I'd love to hear some riffs of that through it. Cheers

I hear the Framus with more mids, which the roadster does not have, so I add a maxon od 808
