I really like Four Year Strong, but this cover was a huge letdown. I like the whispering part, but other than that it doesn't even come remotely close to the original by Smashing Pumpkins.

Also corgan wrote the song so obviously his version is going to be better, the song uses his feelings, his thoughts. because a cover can never capture the same emotion it will never be better. Unless the original is absolute shit, which in this case 'twas not. That is not to say a cover can't be good, which this was.

this isn't that bad of a cover actually. It's a little too fast but whatever that's their style. And if you even think about comparing the singing styles you're a fucking idiot. They are from completely different times. Smashing Pumpkins were from a time when music was real and had purpose while FYS came out during the time of the same recycled sound over and over again. If you think corgan's voice isn't music then give up on life because you don't even know what music is.

That is his scream at 02:33 and then he sings lead on the chorus... "despite all my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage" and then that's him screaming and singing in multiple tracks at the end.
