I believe you've made a contradiction there. If people are bothered by peace, then how are they supposedly 'lulled' at all? Isn't the definition of being 'asleep' metaphorically is to be completely subdued and content with their relatively peaceful and mundane affairs, thus distracted from harsh realities outside of their ivory towers? I don't think modern humanity dislikes beauty or peace. I think it is just confused and hideously manipulated by a few cruel monsters who commit war atrocity.

Hey man, Peace agitates people. Anything that sounds, has the sight, has the feel, has the smell (they won't argue against fast-food) will bother those who can't deal with the thought of peace. People of the world don't know or realize or in denial that they are entranced into the brainwash that dominates the world. It's a dichotomy, awake or asleep. A whole bunch of people just want to stay asleep under the lull...(the zombies will say what lull, I say awake spiritually and you will know).
