well, since the melting scream is pre-recorded and is played by the board, she obviously had approval for it to happen.

Lighten up Jaszon26. It's a bit of fun! Who doesn't want that on their final day of performances.

But that's what a muck-up matinee is! It's the most unprofessional, professional show you will ever go to and it's a whole load of fun. Sadly, I've never been to a Wicked one and I would have loved to have been at Rachel Tucker's last matinee. But Les Miserables do some of the best muck-up matinees and I really wish Broadway did them too. They are so much fun. I can't wait for Book of Mormons. That will be hilarious! :)

I know this is a bit of a late response. It was kinda unprofessional of Rachel, but this would not have been spontaneous. All Elphabas (at least in Britain) pre-record their melting scream, and it is the recording that is played every night. The actress herself does not scream live every night. In order for her to have been able to do this, she would have had to arrange with the people backstage for her recording not to be played. I'm presuming that would have been sanctioned by management :)

FINALLY know what she was shouting. Thank you for putting this up! (Was the first Muck Up Matinee I've witnessed, so much fun.)

Wicked is famous for its Muck Ups. And wicked had been Rachels life for 3 years, 900 performances...really think she was going to quietly?

They don't. Especially since most final performances on Broadway happen on a one show day...3:00 Sunday.

I wonder how poor Gina had to stay in character and not laugh?!

Basically, she took the original lines Margaret Hamilton said in the film, The Wizard of Oz: "You cursed brat! Look what you've done!"

it should be done that way all the time because it helps connect the story

That was not unprofessional at all. That was actually quite brilliant. And plus, it's obvious that the whole team was in on it because the "melting scream" is pre-recorded. So they knew not to play it so Rachel could do this :) So funny though!!!
