Lyrics

I thought I knew all it took to bother you

every word I said was true that you'll see

how could it be I'm the only one who sees your rehearsed insanity

I still refuse all the methods you've abused

it's all right if you're confused let me be

I've been around all the pawns

you've gagged and bound

they'll come back and knock you down and I'll be free

I've taken all and I've endured

one day it all will fade

I'm sure

I don't owe you anything

I had no other hand in your ever desperate plan

it returns and when it lands words are due

I should've known we were better off alone

I looked in and I was shown

you were too

I've taken all and I've endured

one day it all will fade

I'm sure

I don't owe you anything

I'll stick around and learn

From all that came from it

Everyone says "Their". There is no "Their", Dave did all of this, re recorded the tracks over each other, one man.

Foo Fighters were able to inject something into their music that Nirvana seemed incapable of, i.e., joy and happiness.

Almost 20 years old now. I am happy for Grohl and the rest of the band. Speaks volume in my opinion on just how great Grohl is as an artist. Grohl has become one of the most successful and one of the most respected artist worldwide the last 2 decades. What is even more incredible about that statement is he and the band achieved all of that without ever using or needing "Nirvana's" fame and popularity to promote their band . It would have been extremely easy for Grohl to just use something similar to Nirvana's sound and style to try and appeal to Nirvana's fan base, but he didn't. He could have also used something like "Featuring the band member Dave Grohl of Nirvana" or something similar in ads or trying to promote the band/album, but again he didn't. He instead actually built his own fan base which continues to grow to this day. Over the last 20 years, the Foo Fighters have actually IMPROVED in the charts worldwide, as well as their accolades. VERY few bands or people in the music world now or ever can say they actually improved their musical success 20 years after their first platinum record. In fact, their last album "Wasting Light", actually had more success on the charts worldwide than ANY NIRVANA ALBUM!. Germany and Ireland were the only countries that it did not reach #1 on the music charts. Their last 3 albums have also all peaked in the top in the top 10 in every music chart worldwide (Nirvana never did this even once). It is impossible to really compare them or to say which band is more successful. Nirvana ended abruptly at the peak of their popularity (not to mention the impact of the internet and social media). In doing so, Nirvana gets to carry that status for eternity. It is also hard or compare the international success of the music charts. Nirvana was only around and had at most a couple of years to improve international success, while Grohl and the Foo Fighters have been able to build and improve their fan base for almost 20 years. Regardless, I think both will have their place in Rock history and much like the bands, for different reasons. Lastly, even if you don't like or care for the the Foo Fighters, their success the last 20 years while releasing new albums throughout that era, is an incredible and an extremely rare achievement. In fact, the only other band that I can recall to accomplish such a feat would be Aerosmith. After looking it up, Aerosmith and the Foo Fighters are incredibly similar. Aerosmith's first album was in 1973 and like the FF, their success kept growing and they enjoyed their most success between 1987-1997. Interestingly, the peak of their success was 1993, exactly 20 years. I thought a comparison of the two would be fairly similar when I first started looking it up, but if you graphed the twos chart success on paper, it would almost be a carbon copy. Crazy, thats pretty neat if you ask me.
