i like the line "you are no more for sale", because it's true; i think the whole lyrics are just satirical, something told by the damn guys who considered Cuba "a whoring island" and Castro destroyed their caribbean paradise forever, freeing the cuban people (Then, the socialism in "He Makes the poor man rich").but it's a strange song anyway, you can have your own conclusion.

Would this be in bad taste to cover this song, for a band, live (especially the line which say hell)?

I always have wondered what was the meaning of this song. First it says "Castro makes the poor man's rich", then it says "I wish he were in hell". Pretty controversival. I guess you nailed at it, and now I can see a lot of that irony in the lyrics.

"I" always thought the song was a play on the"Sugar Cube Acid' that they would have done, (or at least known of :) back then? It "was" free back then , then ppl started "selling" it ( when it bacame illegal). Being a Musician, I know that I heard some REALLY fkd up thoughts from people's "opinion" of the meaning of my songs, heh-heh=heh!! :) ! \/ Peace !!!! P.S. if you would like to hear My music, search Faithful Pig on YouTube! ( ANY hit counts!!Thank You :) !! I

I really wondered why these guys would write an anti-Castro song. They don't seem like the type for me. On the other hand, if you analyze the lyrics it becomes very clear that it's satirical. 'Sugar Island Cuba: You are no more for sale'. Nothing sounds more sarcastic than that. I guess this song is told from the perspective of the Americans who used Cuba as a holiday destination.

I like Focus. First heard songs about 1972. Have four of their albums. I like earliest work best. They are my third favorite Prog band, after the Mighty YES, then Renaissance.

Who could dislike this? Counterrevolutionary samba, seems to me! Shall we dance?
