Flying Colors is Mike Portnoy (drums, vocals), Dave LaRue (bass), Neal Morse (keyboards, vocals), Casey McPherson (lead vocals, guitar), and Steve Morse (guitar). "This album has bits and pieces of what you'd expect from each of us," says Portnoy. "The sum of all its parts led to brand new, unchartered territory for everyone involved."

The formation of Flying Colors began with a simple idea: virtuoso musicians and a pop singer joining together to make new-fashioned music the old fashioned way. Refreshing, classic, old and new, the recordings are saturated with the many styles, tones and hues of the players who in becoming a band have delivered a unique fusion of vintage craftsmanship and contemporary music.

Can't wait for the second great disc. So much respect for each one of these artists. Perfect combination. Magic chemistry.

after mike portnoy had left dream theater, dream theater's music have become a little less emotional, more technical but there is no such passion like portnoy could give them as inspirator, right now i am begining to listen flying colors, wow it is a new opening for me, mike portnoy is back

I saw the same studio setup in Transatlantic's Whirlwind documentary. (You can find it in YouTube also. Also amazing!)

What studio was the project recorded in? It is amazing seeing some of my favorite most respected musicians of all time. I have had the pleasure, and honor, to do a GC clinic sound for Steve Morse, Steve Lukather and crew. I wish there was a way to get this music more visible, I will do my best. I truly believe the more people hear it the larger the fan base will grow. AMAZING ! ! !
