I saw her there from afar

Her hair grey charcoal

Takes a drag from her tar

I kissed her a smile

But her blood red shot eye

Said the son never shines on closed doors

It's been eight long years since I saw

The woman who's labored

Since the day I was born

These wrinkles now face

To that cold dark damp place

Where the son never shines on closed doors

She said the son never shines on closed doors

I open to find only hurricanes blow

Take me away back to the green fields of May

Because the son never shines on closed doors

Death comes like a thief in the night

To steal while you sleep

The soul's flickering light

Well maybe it's then

She said, I'll see you again

Because the son never shines on closed doors

She said the son never shines on closed doors

I open to find only hurricanes blow

Take me away back to the green fields of May

Because the son never shines on closed doors

And we all go the same way home

Yeah we all go the same way home

I know that the title of this song is, "The Son Never Shines (On Closed Doors)", but I think this song, at least in the chorus and end, has a lot more meaning as "The Sun" instead of, "The Son", under that title this becomes a song about conquering your fears instead of hiding from them.

No, it's about Dave Kings return to Ireland after many years of exile. He knocked on the door to his mothers house and she didn't know him anymore.

non-spaced ellipsis should only be used for removing material within one sentence within a quote.

*sidles in* ehem, just to say that an ellipsis consists of three periods, not four, and a space isn't required between each point, so in fact, your ". . . ." should be a "...". Just saying - I agree with everything else though! :D *sidles back out again*

Ever notice all those words underlined in red? That's where you went wrong. Never said rap-enthusiast prisoners couldn't appreciate the music. It just looks like you can't spell, or pay attention, or just choose not to. Also, it's "maybe" not "mabey". Just keep proving my point, dawg. And by the way, an ellipsis is a form of punctuation and not the end of a sentence. So your ".." should have been a ". . . ."

So, is this song about someone's mom dying?

Can't say I've met a Flogging Molly fan that spells like a rap-enthusiast prisoner. Fix that, dawg, this isn't amateur hour.

@smokeyhails Truly sorry to hear about you mom's death mate. She is in a better place and when you two are together again it will be nothing but happiness for the both of you. She's watching up above. Make her proud.

July 4 2006, R.I.P. Teresa Dianne Hails. You were the best mom a boy could have, You made me the man I am today - successful, driven, confident and happy. I can't wait to see you in the afterlife. Sincerely, your son.
