Fleetwood Mac -- The Dance...

I doubt many performers have ever been as frightened on stage as Lindsey was around 4 minutes into this. The sheer intensity of her vocal and the force with which it is directed at him adds so much authenticity to this live version of the song. Glad it was preserved for posterity.

Beginning at 4:13 and especially beginning at 4:47, there is A LOT being said between her and Lindsay...

This is such an incredible and beautiful stalking song. Creepy....Despite those lyrics, I love her use of arpeggios in this. ALSO, he has a pretty vibrato - her voice has become more alto over the years.

Wow. I am an old Southern Rock fan. But knowing what this song meant to Stevie and watching the interaction between her and Lindsey actually brings chills. Man oh man, that has to be some of the most heartfelt lyrics I have ever seen performed. That many years later, still fresh and raw. In my opinion, the best vocal performance by Stevie in her whole career.

Quotes by Stevie Nicks regarding Silver Springs - I wrote Silver Springs uh, about Lindsey. And I ~ we were in Maryland somewhere driving under a freeway sign that said Silver Spring, Maryland. And I loved the name. ...Silver Springs sounded like a pretty fabulous place to me. And uh, 'You could be my silver springs...' that's just a whole symbolic thing of what you could have been to me.~Stevie Nicks, Classic Albums: Rumours, video 1998You have to realize that Silver Springs was so genuinely kicked off the record 20 years ago, and I was so genuinely devastated...because I loved the song and it was one of the Rumours songs. So I never thought that Silver Springs would ever be performed on stage, would ever be heard of again so it, like, and my beautiful song just disappeared. So for it to come back around like this has really been, really special to me.~Stevie Nicks, MTV Interview clip 1997[On why she wrote Silver Springs and what she wanted to say to Lindsey] 'I'm so angry with you. You will listen to me on the radio for the rest of your life, and it will bug you. I hope it bugs you.'~Stevie Nicks, Arizona Republic, August 12, 1997In six weeks of rehearsal, it [performing Silver Springs for the MTV special] was never like that...Only on Friday night did we let it go into something deeper. When we went on Friday, I knew we'd bring it out in case it was the last thing we'd ever do. The other shows were really, really good, but they weren't the show I wanted to leave behind. This show was...I wanted people to stand back and really watch and understand what [the relationship with Lindsey] was."~Stevie Nicks, Arizona Republic, August 12, 1997

Stevie and Lindsey were basically inseparable from 1967-1977. Her words are that she took care of him and then they broke up after the Rumors album. Stevie claims that Lindsey feels that F Mac prevented them from being married. They continued working together up until 1987 when Lindsey left the band. They hardly spoke from 1987-1997. This is one of Lindsey's first concerts back with the band and before he had his 1st child. I think right here Stevie is making a pitch to get back together and Lindsey appears to be considering it. When asked when it was over- Stevie said when Lindsey had his 1st child. Most Mac fans like myself wanted them to be husband and wife.

The Dance. Lots of shared moments in this concert. The cd was the most thoughtful gift I ever received from someone. And I will never forget him. ~

I forget what a great band they are.Since I grew up with them playing right down the street,I took them for granted. They are so talented, but we get caught in their drams. The music speaks to us and for us.Hit after hit.Bands are not this consistant, but the are at the top.
