Lindsey Buckingham made his point by walking out. Rick Vito and Billy Burnette were nothing more than footnotes to the Fleetwood Mac story. During this tour I wonder how many in the audiences asked, "is that Lindsey Buckingham? He looks shorter, and who's that other guy?" The album they made after this "Behind the Mask," while being very competent was completely unexceptional. Course, Buckingham needed them just as much as they needed him. His solo career was no big shakes. The only one who did some of her best work as a solo artist was Nicks, but I don't think she ever really wanted to be the boss. She liked having everything taken care of for her, and that is why she kept coming back to Fleetwood Mac. She brought the star power, and Lindsey brought the sound along with Christine. In interviews, I think John McVie is one of the most interesting to listen to. He says some of the funniest things with a very quiet and dry delivery.
