Fleetwood Mac - Moses Lay it all down 1971

Let me retell

A story of old

About a man named moses

Who lived long ago

He prophicied good

He prophicied bad

And now that prophecy's

Coming to pass

Let all your sons, and your daughters

Of the golden calf

Lay down your burden of sorrow

Lay down your burden of hurt

Lay it all down, for paradise here on earth

(Instrumental)

A whole lot of people, including myself

Thought the story of moses was just a tall tale

But all of the things that we see going on

Are just what moses set down

Let all your sons, and your daughters

Of the golden - yeah

Lay down your burden of sorrow

Lay down your burden of hurt

Lay it all down, for paradise here on earth

(Instrumental)

Let me retell

A story I know

About a man named moses

Who lived long ago

He prophicied good

He prophicied bad

And now that prophecy's

Coming to pass

Let all your sons, and your daughters

Of the golden - yeah

Lay down your burden of sorrow

Lay down your burden of hurt

Lay down your burden of sorrow

Lay down your burden of hurt

Lay it down

(Instrumental)

Lay down, Lay down ....

Lay down your burden of sorrow

Lay down your burden of hurt

Lay down your burden of sorrow

Lay down your burden of hurt

Lay down your burden of sorrow

Lay down your burden of hurt

Lay down your burden of sorrow

Lay down your burden of hurt

You've got to lay down your burden of sorrow

Lay down your burden of sorrow

Lay down your burden of hurt ...

Lay it all down, for paradise here on earth

So sad they didn't invite Bob Welch to join them for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. During this period he wrote most of the music and led the band.

Future Games is my favourite Mac album for sure. Danny Kirwans songwriting was just so honest. Not as much of a fan of Bob Welch, but this performance is still rockin

I have to admit, I never thought Welch was as interesting as Spencer or Green which became apparent when Kirwan was fired in 1972. That said, live he sounds very good and the band has as much enthusiasm in this performance as in their Green and Spencer period, not sure why so much got lost in the studio. I will say he did hit his stride with the band on the very underrated "Heroes are Hard to Find", too bad he left after that. While Lindsey and Stevie have their merits, I rarely find much to get excited about there. Over exposure, perhaps.

I have loved everything I have heard from this line up so far. I am sure they pick their best stuff for these shows.

Danny was one of the best of the period. If only he could have held himself together. Here's a snippet from Wiki - "During the late 1970s Kirwan's mental health deteriorated significantly and since then he has played no further part in the music industry. During the 1980s and 1990s, he endured a period of homelessness living in London."Sad indeed. Drugs and pressure. Both killers.

So bad ass!!!!! Imagine if Bob didn't leave in 1974. BTW, he was very friendly with Stevie Nicks. I guess that is why he and LB weren't such good pals.

This is brilliant! I had never seen any footage with this line up before. Christine is so cute, and they all play their instruments great :)
