Flatfoot 56 Son of Shame (with Lyrics) - Music Devotion
Have you ever gone a day without noticing the beauty of the world? We get so focused on the things in our lives, we often lose perspective. Whether it is blooming flowers, the peaceful greenery or the cloudy blue sky, we tend to notice the dirt on our shoes and the potential for rain.
This song reminds me of a puritan prayer:
Thou art good beyond all thought
But I am vile, wretched, miserable and blind;
My lips are ready to confess,
But my heart is slow to feel.
I love the honesty of this prayer and the honesty of the author of this song. He is willing to admit where his mind is trapped and struggles to keep his focus on God. However, God does not move His eye from him. Nor does He move His eye off you and I who stand in Christ. As the author states so well that we are the reason He came and we are the apple of His eye. Despite that we are apathetic, despite that we are pessimistic, and despite that we are shameful. His love endures for us!
Put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.
Psalm 130.7
How priceless is your unfailing love!
Psalm 36.7
