I remember things my grandmother told me about this age. That it was an age in which all kids were going to hell. I see things on the screen and from a different time period and remember what she said but I don't see any difference in human behavior. People are the same no matter what time period it is.

If you are going to be naughty, sigh, do it with some degree of STYLE. My Granny wore trousers, yellow trousers, was a member of the Theosophical Society, and campaigned for gay rights. And she would not wear a hat in church.

Is that Betty Boop (Helen Kane) singing? She sounds like a....precocious child.

when you think that women looked like Mary Pickford, ala Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, in long golden curls/strait jacket lace only 3 yrs before--1918--this has to be the most startling metamorphosis in women's fashion history--the hilarious contrast is pointed out at 4:20--women weren't going back to the repressed farm, that is for darn sure!!

Fun, inventive clip, lovingly edited and a tribute as well. Love how you put it together Aaron--makes history come alive through our grandmothers. definitely the first women's great fashion decade--sexy, naughty and fun---fabulous look--no bodice, lots of sparkle, still topical...I'm thinking the 20's flapper has been reinvented--through the 60's the other great fashion decade--either way both liberated the women from Victorian corsets! go ladies!!

This is perfect, I am going to write a book about a Russian peasant girl who comes to America as a child and years later, gets into the flapper scene and doesn't speak English. It's Fiddler on the Roof and Gatsby!

America had a stiff upper lip and we were socially reserved until the Roaring Twenties. The stiff upper lip has been bred out of us for over 100 years.

they did it without cellphones, computers, a/c, subways without a/c. they did it w/o t.v. , most didn't have indoor plumbing, no fast food and in a snowstorm, no plows, no gas heating. yet they did it with class and style. I guess you don't miss what you never had.
