FINALLY Here is the honest truth about John Denver's accident - taken from the final NTSB Final Report (LAX98A008) and the Monterey County coroners postmortem examination (#97-227).

You may have to stop the video to read a few frames - (unless you are a true speed reader) but I suggest that you stop the video to read each of the frames - (there are only 5 or 6 of the 49 pictures) and then watch it again - without stopping it. Enjoy and learn!

This video was made in Atlanta, Georgia for my good friend Kathy - it was made on her request (I started it in August 2008 but I got lazy) and posted April 11, 2009. Kathy died of liver failure in California - only hours after this video was posted. She never saw it. My heart is broken for Kathy, my dear friend!

Godspeed, Kathy, you will be missed - fly away songbird!!!

I'm here because I think John's voice is comparable to Karen Carpenters in it's ability to express feelings. And my guess before reading was that it was pilot error, and it was - because I have had friends that crashed and I have read about many other causes of crashes. The number one attribute that identifies you as a pilot is maintaining the safety of your aircraft. And john failed at that. RIP. John loved nature and unlike most of us, he died doing what he enjoyed most (looking down at what he loved). ****He lives forever in his music.****

In July of1973, just back from Viet Nam, I hitchhiked to Boulder, Colorado. There was a park there at the base of the mountain. At the park there was a man and woman there passing out sandwiches to the many drifters and such who had found themselves alone there. That was the best sandwich I had eaten. Someone told me that the man was John Denver. I said, "ok". I had no clue who John Denver was, but I knew he was a generous, kind, and humble man. And man could he make a heck of a sandwich.

He was an inspiration to all who listened to his music. I was very sad & depressed when I heard of his death. I always loved his songs, Rocky Mountain High is one of my favorites & I have his albums. R.I.P. John, we miss you.

Unfortunately you cannot red any of the text on the frames because it is too blurry. If you are trying to say something then say it, but nobody can read the text in this video.

His body was blown apart; so I don't know what most people's logic would lead them to think happened? Seems pretty obvious.

The frame at 2:40 is thought provoking. Should he have known that he was putting himself in a very hazardous situation.Had he ever practices the tank shift on the ground?

I am so grateful that the truth of John Denver's accident is public record. I have always believed that a man who loved his life and this world would not have ever taken his own life.I am also pleased that the rummers that he would have ever hurt Annie by ending his life because she had chosen to move on.If people want to believe that someone of this man's character would have chosen this end, they clearly had never heard his message!Peace be with you John , I know you are in a better place!C. I have not watched this before,It breaks my heart to read a lot of it.The old Devil just had to jump in and take away the gift the LORD Gave him,his beautiful voice. If he had lived,He would more and likely not be able to sing with his throat cut.I just want to thank GOD That he did not know what happened, because it happened so fast!John I miss you every day and listen to some of you're music.RIP.We Miss YOU!

John Denver will remain in the mind and heart of many, and many more will come to appreciate the beauty we all can imagine in the music he sings. Rest in Peace

It didn't require vise grip pliers to turn because it was difficult....he had discussed with an airport maintenance personnel the possibility of using the vise grip pliers to extend the reach of the switch to make it more accessible and he wasn't told he needed to turn around and get on his knees....where are you getting this sh.t from? Read the NTSB report.

John Denver inspired me to learn guitar. I was saddened by his death. In my music enclave I have a John Denver song book book sitting on my music stand.

I am also wondering if witnesses had said how long John had been flying at low altitude, i.e. 500 feet.

With deepest respect to John and his family, he had been flying for 78 minutes and would have known he was short on fuel. Why then, was he flying at 500 feet, with no chance of recovery if something should happen. No alcohol or other drug use was detected in his blood, so he would have had his wits about him. How terribly sad. He has so much more to give. HIs songs are immortal, telling great stories with feeling.
