This song was a #6 Billboard hit in 1957, sung by the 11-13 years old Bobettes. Three years later, in 1960, they recorded "I Shot Mr. Lee", which their label Atlantic Records refused to release. So they had to knock on Triple-X Records and achieved #52 in the 1960 Billboard charts.

This hit from The Bobbettes was heard on the Miami Vice episode, Golden Triangle: Part 2, which aired on January 18, 1985. MV was one of my all time favorite shows. It was the first to combine MTV with police action drama.

Anybody who lives in Chicagoland and is an avid listener of 93 WXRT is very familiar with this song. Frank E. Lee affectionately calls these ladies "The Leettes" as a portion of this song serves as his weekday afternoon broadcast theme song at 1pm local time. It's a shame only one of them is left.

I had no idea these girls were that young. They always sounded like adults to me. Of course, I was about 7 years old when this was out. So, that could explain why they sounded older to me. I just remember loving this music so much and wishing that I was a teenager so that I could be on American Bandstand dancing.
