I can't imagine the pain the girls going up and down the steps went through the next day. I'm sure that was a day long shoot, constantly up and down those steep stairs. They're legs were probably crushed.

It was actually a very nasty revenge song. Sharkey's earlier hit "A Good Heart" was written by Maria McKee, about her reflection on the end of her relationship with Benmont Tench (Tom Petty). When Tench heard it he went nuts and wrote "You Little Thief" as a sort of a fuck you to McKee, and then sent it to Sharkey. Sharkey seems to have really got on board with Tench's bitterness and venom. Almost as if it had been his own heart broken. Listen to the lyrics closely; "you little whore". Not uplifting at all, but disturbing.
