Wow, with all the power ballads that came out from the mid 80's to early 90's, this one stands out a lot. The fact that it addresses the issues of being abandoned by your father and you still trying to love him after all his bullshit, is very relatable to many people. instead of writing a song about love and girls, it's a heartfelt song about the pain felt in a family situation.
