In 2004, Bob, Richard, Paul, Barry, John and Susan Cowsill gathered in Los Angeles to help their oldest brother, Billy with a benefit concert at which they were introduced by the TV version of their Mom, Shirley Jones.

Billy left the singing Cowsills in 1969 at the very top of their ride. But why?

You will learn the truth in the documentary film, Family Band: The Cowsills Story.

Awesome video! I purchased the DVD, and after seeing it, I have a whole new respect for the Cowsills! They've grown into amazing adults, despite everything they've been through. Billy was absolutely an incredible man, and so very talented! I've looked up other videos of his, I only wish I'd have known about them sooner. And I'd like to know who the knucklehead is that gave this a thumbs down, and smack them upside their head!!

LOUISE! (thanks). watched the video. Yes, in some respects maybe TMI. Alcoholdestroys families. (did mine). Don't want to make this about me. Our family NEVERmade sounds like these. According to Barry (while speaking to his older brother Richard) performing this was THE joyful, fun time of their youth. Because, whoDIDN'T like THIS? Young and old, everyone did. (hey, Bob Marley did!)

FUN! (isn't it?) Aw, C'MON....this is fun stuff! See, They got it right. This is supposedto LET you feel good (not MAKE you feel good). They're not preaching. -or bitching about something. -or claiming to care MORE than YOU about something(trees or delta smelt or kangaroo rats, etc.). They're just singing happily. Thank-you.

Is there a better combo drummer/singer/heartthrob than John Cowsill? Billy may have been the "Brian Wilson" of the band, but John is unique. He seems to be a nice guy and very intelligent as well. The Beach Boys are lucky to have him.

Es gefällt mir so gut. Großartig! Die Einblendung von der alten Version ist toll. Danke. Ich denke auch an die Verstorbenen ehemaligen Mitglieder, die so super waren. Mögen sie in Frieden ruhen.I like it so well. Great! The insertion of the old version is great. Thank you. I also think of the deceased former members who were so great. May they rest in peace.

Hi, Raymond. I would love to do that for you, but I don't have the rights to that footage. I only have the right to use what I used in the movie and nothing more. It's very expensive to use only that. You may want to try searching youtube for the cowsills and ed sullivan. Maybe you'll find somebody else who has "borrowed" the footage and put it up.

Susan Cowsill had jokingly in an interview claimed to be puzzled as to which sister in the Partridge Family was supposed to be her. Susan was probably about 8 in this video (in the old clips that is) and playing the tambourine. I'm not exactly sure how old Tracey of the Partridge Family was, but I'd guess about 6 or 7 and she played the tambourine. That's where the similarity ended though as Susan quickly became a lead singer for the group, which Tracey never did.

a powerful universal story which I continue to be gripped by several days after watching. I love this version of the song. loved it as a kid too, but got my share of abuse for listening to it because you know, it was bubble gum. I guess my point is that the real villain is us, all around us.

Yes, Bill was unable to travel at that time and John was with The Beach Boys. You are welcome. Thank you for watching.
