I personally always found the vocals on the original recording quite discordant and unpleasant.

This gal just doesn't have it. Shame. Sandy is/was irreplaceable.

Did Sandy Denny start the Denny's restaurant chain? Curious...

I've just happened on this video, and I've never heard of Kristina Donahue before, but some of the criticisms of the lady are over the top. For goodness sake, she's got an impossible hard act to follow (ie Sandy), and she's doing it live, in a field set up for a temporary concert - not in a studio, not with four musicians at the peak of their particular game, and not with Jimmy Page running around setting up every channel to perfection. Nor do we know if she has ever set eyes before on Robert Plant - did they do any rehearsals? We don't know.Is this a great recording. Not in my opinion, no. It's possible this is not her song, possible she doesn't have it to be great, and it's possible the whole caboodle did her no favours, but let's not destroy the woman on one track in the Oxfordshire countryside with no knowledge of the real context.

Okay so it's not Sandy Denny but IMO it's still nicely done.

If all you do is listen to this, do it now.

I know Sandy is long gone, but her voice was so made for this song. Robert Plant's voice is still good even after all of the years.

shame the sound quality isn't doing the artists any favours, they are better than this.
