Moog modular might be an ultimate synthesizer, but Fairlight is definitely the Stradivarius of digital instruments. It's basically a no compromise dedicated computer unit, which isn't ALSO a something else for everybody like an Internet browser or some other stupid task for millions of users, from whom music making is the last thing to consider. The new Fairlight seems quite a bit desirable, but replacing a CRT with a TFT feels a bit like a kick in the stomach.

@FairlightIIx Do you have also the library from J.J. Jeczalik? Please make some videos of the fairlight

@bitleyTM In my opinion a CMI is very underestimated. Most see it as a sampler, but it's an awesome synth. The only bad thing are the 8" floppies. As soon as I manage to get an upgrade to more modern storage, I plan to make some demo vids of it's potential as a synth.

@Audionized This was the most interesting vid I have. However, back in the mid 90's I bought the CMI IIx that belonged to J.J. Jeczalik (Art Of Noise) and I might put up some vids in the future. By the way, the soundquality of this vid is pretty bad, a Fairlight sounds awesome in reality. (I used to be a vintage dealer and still am a collector, so I did a whole lot of investigating and comparing.)

@0E1TPW The first part is not very interesting, so I didn't upload it.

Excellent material, amazing to see the old machine at work. Lovely live violin there too. I have made the Fairlight IIx library available for Reason and I think it's an amazing sound collection to work with even today, 30 years later.
