According to 1 John 5:20 God's gift to those who love Him is the ability to understand what is written in the Bible. Not much of a gift if everyone can already understand what the Bible says. Obviously then God's voice is hidden from the eyes and ears of the world. 1 Corinthians 2:16 states that we have the mind of Christ. Amos 4:12-13 states that God reveals His thoughts to us under a specific set of circumstances. I think we agree on the def of a gnostic after reading your def of an agnostic.

I thought that a true agnostic was a person who understood that in a similar way to how a dog could never understand the mind of a human, a human can never understand the reality of the Creator's unknowable essence. That would be like the painting understanding its painter, the table comprehending the carpenter who made it. It seems an agnostic can still believe the Bible has both explicit commandments and ordinances as well as parables and analogies. That's the meaning of agnostic I meant.

Correct. A gnostic is one who believes that the Bible contains metaphoric verse and therefore must be interpreted utilizing the metaphoric definitions of words and phrases which are hidden within the Bible itself. This is called the Spiritual interpretation of the Bible. An agnostic does not believe in any Spiritual interpretations but only in the literal interpretation. Being an agnostic will send no one to hell but neither will it make them wise. Most organized religion worldwide is agnostic.

Sin and blasphemy committed against that which is mortal and corruptible will be forgiven but those who blaspheme against God who is immortal and incorruptible will never be forgiven. Deny the TRUTH and refuse to LOVE and we reap the consequences of our choices because God is TRUTH and LOVE united, Jesus is His Name. So who says the serial killer has any advantage over the unbeliever? God is One. He cannot be separated. Doesn't a toaster have two slots and doesn't each slot fire both sides?

Does this mean my dear sweet agnostic old mother who has never hurt much more than a fly in her life burns for eternity in the fire of distance from the Almighty whereas some mafioso serial killer hit man type who genuinely fears paying for his crimes after death and repents on his deathbed gets the bounty of nearness to the Creator for eternity? Where's the justice in that?

if you're living, you've not failed. failing maybe? if the sermons and so on never got to you, maybe you are a pre-Christian, not a failed one. since there is nothing to accomplish in becoming a Christian, how might one fail?
