Extreme (Gary Cherone, Nuno Bettencourt, Pat Badger, Mike Mangini) perform "Hip Today" on the Dave Letterman show to promote their fourth album, "Waiting for the Punchline." Nuno was using a Washburn N4 and Pat Badger a Washburn XB900. Unlike some of the other TV performances to promote 'Punchline,' this one had a particularly 'raw' sound.

Gary Cherone gives me a bit freddie mercury vibes in this performance. Awesome stuff.

Absolutely, great singers like the backing vocals of VAN HALEN.

Gary's stage performance was always great. I love every EXTREME Album, even VAN HALEN "III". :-)

I'd say their movement in Waiting for the Punchline was a real success of hard rock after grunge fashion. I mean, listen to Van Halen III, Joe Satriani's Joe Satriani... etc... This album is so unique and extremely keeping their extremeness. I know this kinda music will be back sooner than we gave up.

@zzerovisibility Well, no dout about that. Experiencing what MM does in Dream Theater now, he's undeniably the world's greatest drummer... :)

Mike is the best drummer they ever had! Nuno is so natural at playing...

Gary Cherone gave one hell of a performance! For once I was concentrating on him more than Nuno. Holy cow that guy can belt it out when he wants to!

@BrendaMidnightMoon The interview can be found at Ultimate-Guitar's Website. YouTube won't allow me to post a link here so simply Google "extreme to release new music in 2011" and it should be the top result.

@TheMrFett Thx for the update. Re: the 12/26 interview w/Gary ........ Where did you see/hear it? Is it on YouTube? If so, what's the YT address so I may enjoy it, too. Thanks again for your assistance!

@BrendaMidnightMoon According to a 12/26 Interview with Gary, Extreme will have new music out later this year. Hopefully Nuno's work with Rihanna won't delay it any further! Gary also has a new album coming out on February 8th with his new band "Hurtsmile." It features his younger brother Markus and a former band member of Dramagods (Joe Pessia).

Great number! Gary? Well his stage moves are no geekier than Jagger's. And a blond Nuno .... wonder if he had more fun as a blond? Ah, the hair is dark again, shorter, thinner and has lost its luster. 15 years have gone by since this performance, and the man's playing now is better than ever. And he's still as beautiful as ever, too. Hope these guys issue a new CD and tour in 2011. Oh, anticipation.

Great band, my favorite album from them, but Gary Cherone annoys me.

Phony Nuno is pretty good! Got the axe, chops and the swagger... I think I hear Rhianna calling (oh god no!)
