I think P.G.Blakely was back on Drums then, so I assume it would be Alex St Claire (Snouffer) and Dougie Moon on Guitars I should think.. ( I think Jerry Handley may be the one to ask as from the latest Interview he gave with Steve Froy on the Beefheart-website, he seems to have a pretty good memory.. NB. The 4 new "Avalon Ballroom" tracks recently uncovered, are a real treat to hear and available on a new CD from Keyhole Records.

Having loved Beefheart since his early albums came out, his music just seems to get better over the years. I remember how many people saw him as a joke, a comedy act. I always took him seriously, and I'm glad that historical perspective is vindicating that position.

Obviously Howlin Wolf was Dons main inspiration - but he actually had more vocal range than Wolf- as he proved on numerous later albums. ALWAYS loved that he could go back to gritty blues vocal anytime he wanted

It's clear from your very unenlightened comments that you knew little, if anything, about Beefheart. He wasn't a pure blues artist and never pretended to be. He was something unique in rock music, a performer with no peer. Many tried but none came close to the Captain's particular greatness. Lets hope the intervening period since your comment gave you a chance to check out The Captain's true genius. If not, then tough, it's your loss.
