Tommy Smothers tells a story about what happened just before this was recorded. Apparently Don and Phil were fighting each other quite fiercely and refused to perform. So Tommy took Don to dinner and and Dick took Phil to dinner, each planning on educating the Everlys on how to work better together as brothers. Don and Phil made up well enough to go on (and smile nicely at each other at 1:33), but the Smothers ended up fighting with each other and the show was almost not recorded.

I'm glad that while I never grew up in the era of this music, that I was still exposed to it throughout my childhood and that I've retained a great taste for this music.

@poisonfan86 It was sad to hear about Don's drug use but remember, many stars were given speed by the people who would profit from their performances, the more they appeared, the bigger the profit. Can't even imagine trying to perform night after night without getting tired. They had to sleep and wake on demand,,,, Not trying to make excuses for them but it is something to ponder....The Good thing is the end of the story concerning the drugs...He got help and beat the addiction.!

Beg to differ, but I saw the Everly Brothers perform at Sheppard AFB in 1976. They played a GREAT show for us and I wished my folks were there... They would've had a ball... So, apparently, they went "underground" touring for the military during that period... FYI
