yes there are quite a few differences..mainly less appearances of the man in the dress and more of Annie the housewife. fantastic whichever version you prefer.

The Savage video album needs a dvd release so badly! It needs to have extras like this alt. version of Beethoven and other fun things like behind the scenes footage, making of featurettes, Annie and Dave doing commentary. Savage is one of their greatest albums and Beethoven in particular is just fantastic and one of their most amazing songs!

Wow at first I saw no difference, and then then...wow! I have never seen this before! The counch dialogue is gone and Annie sings while choring away at mundane tasks like a Stepford wife on the edge!! Love it!Where did you find this!! And when oh when will Eurythmics ever release a Complete video collection... the one out now starts with Love is a Stranger... their third video! Not even mentioning Never Gonna Cry again or The Walk!

At the time, I remember seeing this first video-version only once on TV (around early 1988) - I remember it especially because of the title (misprinted as "Listen To Beethoven" - as it turned out , the name of the song officially appeared also a bit different after "Savage" was released)... I guess, this was made as TV promo only, for charting purposes... It was an exciting new song of the time - and "Savage" is a masterpiece hailed by many fans, although not that loved by the critics. After two rock-orientated (but excellent) records that preceded it, "Savage" was a downright confusion of an album, slipping back to avant-garde atmospherics, but also one that managed to avoid falling into the trap of self-indulgence and pretentiousness. I remember reading about Annie going through emotional breakdown at the time and "Savage" was as direct a result - in a way, a collection of personal notes.Years later, I saw the official "Savage" video, which features the original album version of "Beethoven". While I like the intro and then how the whole story progresses into the housewife's state of vamp-madness, I remember being confused, wondering whether two versions of the video do exist... It turned out, they do. Thanks for confirming that fact with this upload of yours. :)

You have to watch carefully the two versions and you can easily spot the differences. There are many, many differently directed scenes.
