WOW! I thought I was the only one who knew of this killer underrated album! Super melodic/symphonic swedish death metal - very unique and well done - (other than the album cover... LOL) there are only a couple others albums like it, including the last album by Embraced.... can't remember the name now! Lothlorien went on to create a powermetal band called Frequency - not as good :(

CoB was very good 2005-back. When Blooddrunk came out they hit the crapper and are still there as we speak. They were a very good power metal band with harsh vocals (I refuse to believe they are/were melodic death)

old school IF(Gothenburg, pioneers of genre, Old School DT (same thing as IF and No way in hell they are mainstream nowadays though, even though WATV was a crap record for them it was still a pretty good one overall). Omnium Gatherum (Finnish). Autumn Leaves - As Night Conquers Day (Most underrated mdm band ever imo, even more so than Eucharist, and they are more of a brutal melodic death metal band). These are old schools and some of the best mdm i have ever heard

also check out Lothlorien's The Primal Event epic melodeath, the cover is horrible though, to their cd that is.

@hellraidzor Children Of Bodom has their melodic moments. Listen from their Something Wild cd up to Follow the Reaper

@hellraidzor I actually just came across a great one, check them out. Search for Sacrilege - Beyond the Gates of Pain

@hellraidzor Don't know how I didn't see this comment til now. Honestly, I wish I could find more less-known melodic dm bands, I'd recommend Edge of Sanity (not just the famous "Crimson" albums- also check out "Infernal" or "The Spectral Sorrows") or Ribspreader, which is pretty brutal but definitely is melodic at times. The latter sounds like a cross between Edge of Sanity and Bloodbath, which probably has to do with the fact that Swano produced some of their stuff.

@hellraidzor Well old school would basically be ATG, DT, IF, EU, Carcass, and old Arch Enemy(both CA and AE were the Amott brothers. go figure) lol they are basically the founders of the entire melodeath genre. I cant think of any other '95 to '97 year bands that i could put up here as good old school melodeath though. but yea those 6 bands i just named pretty much capture the entire realm of melodeath so spawn off those and see if you find any you like.

@hellraidzor Absolutely agreed! Mirrorworlds is one of my all-time favorite albums.
