I remember when a dime bag used to cost a dime. No I don't, just had to get that one in. I guess these blues run a little deeper. Great music from a great musician. Thanks for sharing.

I count myself fortunate to have met her dueing a teach in many years back. She lived in the same town as my father's family, Morganton. She was an incredible talent and a true lady. I would leave the world happy if my guitar picking even came within a mile of hers.

Someone wrote: "Mississippi John Hurt's style seems to be related in some very real way to the guitar tradition from the The Piedmont and the Tidewater." Hurt played the way he did for the same reason as Elizabeth Cotten: it was a popular approach across the South. Hurt picked it up in Mississippi. (Hacksaw Harney picked it up in Mississippi, Robert Wilkins picked it up in Mississippi, Joe Callicott picked it up in Mississippi, etc.)

Dunno if Ive commented here before- I dont believe I have but- Etta was from my "home" state. She was so amazing and I remember seeing her on a local tv program and wishing I could play the way she did. I play guitar but,,,,this woman was not of this world. Amazed me as a younger gal. Love her dearly. Thankyou so much for posting. x "Jen"
