But damn, there just so many great female singers that should be afforded that title, NANCY WILSON, BETTY WRIGHT, BARBARA MASON, ELLA, SARAH VAUGHAN, A FRANKLIN, MILLIE JACKSON, and lets not forget that sweet baby GLADYS KNIGHT. Ok then, she scares the shit out of me, but I better add PATTI LABELLE, BEFORE SHE KNOCKS MY BLOCK OFF. These are ladies that have produced 5 to 10 world class albums, I have LEFT OUT thousands of singers who have released 7 inch and 12 inch INDEPENDANT RECORDS, WHICH HAVE ALL BEEN THE SAME QUALITY OF THE LADIES ABOVE, BUT JUST NOT AS OFTEN, ie, BONNIE BYRD - GOOD GIRL ect, to many to mention, OH MY GOD

I agree Gabby, Esther was truly a Queen, Aretha knew. What a tortured soul to be able to effortlessly sing like she did. Many of her songs reduce me to tears, but we are why she will never be forgotten. On a purely anorak note...those strings and that bass line, crikey. Esther deserved all of it, thank you Creed.

"Capricorn Princess" is such a masterpiece & "Magic In The Air" is another great one from an overlooked classic still not on CD...guess the music industry is too busy releasing junk & hasn't gotten around to releasing this classic yet...Bravo Esther!
