What is original remains proximal to its origins. This definition is not what copyright attorneys use but to hell with them and to hell with superficial names. Eric this performance is as original as the original! BRAVO

There's plenty of reason to dislike what Eric Clapton does but why insult him? I don't see how he's challenged so many people to hate his guts like that. And I don't see how his work harms that of Robert Johnson. By the way: Thomasina Winslow plays good delta blues (and other styles), I'd say.

in Robert Johnson's day the blues players all borrowed from one another and many times songs were attributed as being written by the one who made it most popular or who was most remembered .... Robert Johnson interpreted many songs of that era and recorded them in his own style ..... just like Clapton is doing ...

@Keruaran For more than 70 years, NO ONE does cover it better than Robert Johnson's original tune. This is my humble opinion after listening to Clapton's and Johnson's back to back. Clapton might be an outstanding musician, but definitely an overrated blues guitarist.

@traderfiles master of cliches is that man.i tell you truth..he will lost in history...like Saliere. he plays original great Blues songs...why? he had no songwriting talent to write a song and that kind of a playing makes homogenious people feeel great to play real Blues like a mimic...

If someone has to rerecord all the good old stuff and make it sound pretty, we should at the very least be glad it's by someone who knows what the fuck they're doing.

@mebloke69 Well art and music are fundamentally different as they appeal to different senses primarily. Yes I believe you have a point as I love Listening to the original recordings but @traderfiles I also like the clarity brought to the music by the re-recordings. If anything Clapton's doing us a favour.
