Knopfler's clearly not comfortable sharing the stage with Clapton in this tour. He has done his worst ever solos in that period.

I was there. This is how they opened the show, with EC riffing back stage with the lights out and then taking the stage under one spot light. It was magic. Especially opening with Crossroads. The crowd on the lawn at Shoreline never sat down for the whole show. What a great concert.

Gretsch and a Fender. But with that kind of electronic equipment you could be playing a Sears Diehard.

I was at the concert in Aubern Hills MI in SEP 1988 for the EC concert and this version of crossroads was the best of all time. No other fast tempo version could even compare to the slower emoption filled representation of this Robert Jonson Classic. And I have follewd all the Clapton concerts since. This is the ultimate Crossroads cover. Clapton you rock, and you get better with age , just like fine wine and wisky. Same goes for Mark Knophler.

Let me re-phrase the miss-spellings of my past. This versoion of Crossroads is the best of all time. The slow mellow drive and emotion cover a great Robert Jonson Tune. All the fast modes of intensity do not compare to this melodic grind of historical hard blues expression. In 2012 it is sill the pinical of blues evolustion in American music. Bar none.

OV ALL the crosroads covers of ESC and anyone else. This was and is still the best crossroads cover ofall time. The slow mellos drive and emotional cover of a great Robert Jonson tune. All fast modes of intensity do not comare to this melodic grind of emotion and hard blues expression of the greatest song in Bluse history. In 2012 it is sill the pinical of blues success. Bar none.

Cool rock n' roll-esk version. Wish there was more Clapton and Knopfler on youtube, maybe doing some dire straits songs...besides Money For Nothing, the only search result of mine that keeps popping up no matter what.
