Having been born in Chicago - and quite happy there, I came to Tennessee (dad's home) at 5 - heels dug in, bottom lip stuck out, and in complete denial that I would have to stay in a sm town in W TN, where the people (namely fmly/cousins), had such a country dialect that I really had frequenct inabilities to understand their speech. A place that lacked: parks & pools, transit, WGN (Bozo), WLS and the production/format of radio station at that level, ice cream man, Polish speaking neighbors, the spice of ethnic living w varies groups (I'm Irish), the asdociated foods "smell and taste", Italians - their emotion and passion so close to my own heritage and their speach - so melodic and comforting/reassuring, the buildings - shopping availabilities, the WAY OF LIFE I WAS COMFORTABLE WITH, my Chicago family, ....... and all the (red bird fans - a child born easy walking or quick trip on the L - Northside Chicago....... a Chicago child) - CUBS FAN -I DID NOT LIKE IT IN THE ORANGE DIRT OF THIS PLACE - THE ACCENTS OR LIFESTYLES ... I am 50 years later - still beyond frustrated w my parents ridiculous decision to pack up 2 teenagers, a five yr old and my Angelic IRISH CATHOLIC GRANDMOTHER - a Saint for sure by my standards, leave a MOST LUCRATIVE BUSINESS of 5 Restaurants and the primary- where dad and mom worked... on Belmont and Western Ave (that meant across from Riverview, every Chicago child's Disneyland - that I went to weekly)! Yep just take this child, out of her environment of home/understanding/comfort-level and happiness (during the critical formative years) and stick the lot of their offspring in a little town 500 miles from "Life as I had been taught" Oh and of course - it was 1963 (I was yet actually to turn 5 until December) Hey - if you are w/me here - I do have a point assoc w this post - I suppose my need to have you understand it by coloring the story - for the senses - got me right there where it always has - just amazed at the decision or the why's!!! At any rate, thanks and ya must be killing time or enjoy a fair talent of a Journalism student (but that story takes place later when I attend & grad - Memphis State University, now U of M) "Anyways" - a Chicago saying... thanks and I'll try to keep you smiling throughout the remainder :-) Where was I, ...Oh YES - The South in 1963 - well, I came down here to learn that - Black Children were different than me - really??????? Cause the ones in Chicago never appeared to be, nor did any of the adults I knew ever give me instructions in Social/Ethnic Class Differentation!!!But I am in a town w mom (Shopping!!!) Ha - about 20 mi from "the house" and we have lunch in a coffee shop - go upstairs to use the facilities and BAM!!! I look at the doors - Ya know Men's. WOMEN'S ... and THERE IS A 3RD DOOR AND A SIGN/WORD I HAD NEVER HEARD ASSOCIATED W A BATHROOM OPTION.... Negro... "Mom!" "Why do Negro's (and that was the POLITE term in 63) have their VERY OEN BATHROOM HERE!?'" (thinking it must be cause they are special - since I knew I was Irish - Gram made sure of that! And I never got to go to a Ladies Room posted Irish! .... cute as children can be with their world of learning in front of them... but SAD as adults make our world and society, out of insecure, self promoting, Narcissistic mentality - need to feed their egos and sit on their selfish throne... I had entered a very sad and very real different world, for me, and the reality of life began that day in (of all names for a lil city in the South, Union City, Tennessee)...Now the Point is becoming visible, huh??? As I grew through my childhood in NW TN - I was still that Cubby lovin, Irish-Catholic yet to be confirmed child - that had many variables to deal w in her immediate environment ... including, but not limited to: Ignorance,Poorly Advised and Under Educated/especially Socially, Fundamentalist Mentality at it's feast, Self AppointedS, JudgementalS, Cruel Behaving Adults and their Offspring - - -But God gives us people, places, and things - to gravitate to, that offer us great pleasure and appreciation, comfort and security, feelings of commonality and trust, respect and love... and their seem to have been much/and many more of that and the good souls back then, than now - but the visual and reality of a supressed group of people was so foriegn to how reality should be - like a really horribly scary Twilight Zone - that has yet tp fully run out of tape... I somehow came to find venues of great gifts of others - that became part of my new-yet very much connect w my original identity and one of those - MUSIC, sland a large piece of that - the genre' of true Blues Music - at this point - I don't remember not knowing of and enjoying the Passions, Talents, and Gifts of Mr B.B. KingHe wil always be a part of the person I am and I thank God for this, his music and his way - his self esteem - as he just did his professional and public life with such Grace and Such Passion for his gifts and although I never personally met him - well I've know him and will know him and I need what he and others give/gave to allow me to be - that mature version of that child w so much Passion for her Chicago and all that defined in her and her living this life.Thank you if you read and "got this" and Thanks be to God for BB and those like him and Thanks for this video/audio post.Peace be w you BB and all of you and please teach respect and opportunity for all peoples. Please B Bartlett - a true storyMay not be copied or rewritten w/o my consent - it belongs to a larger story- is part of me, I share it in the venue of Peace, Understanding, and Educating

Thanking God and Much Respect - for BB - and his friends and their Passions.Eric Clapton - you appreciate it, you are one of the very greats - now come on out if the British concern and "Let YOUR Good Times Roll"!We are looking to you to keep the current artists focused - so we can continue to appreciate the results if your gifts.I so wish you guys would do a "Blues Fest Tour" - Just even a 5 city schedule - I would donate my time and efforts to doing an asst/production job, to help make this happen and to further help by donating my associated pay to charity - in memory of BB, JJ Cale, Stevie --- etc. (Memphis, Chicago, Tulsa, New Orleans, St Louis, San Francisco, DC, Las Vegas and New York) 10 that have obvious reasons..Charity I have in mind is to give $ for music education/instruments/transportation. - for youth or adults - for people to achieve their dream of being able to play an instrument - to master an ability to "speak thru music".Please share your gifts/Passion, while enjoying your craft and watching us enjoy it w you.. all while giving opportunities to others through funding of educational/instructive music availabilities.Blues is one Genre' of Music, I feel will continue, very close to it's roots musically, for as long as, life exists. (...and I enjoy an eclectic appreciation of music genres)*********************Keep Music and the Arts a part of the Schools, your Communities, and your Life...*********************I encourage businesses and private venues to: Pay for real musicians - enjoy the sound and related feelings of the real instrument. - not a computer synthesized flat sound...
