Evidently.....for some...........believably is measured by how often you can say "Can you dig." Something about a cliche word that died out decades ago just seems to lend credibility to believably.

anyone ever notice that at the end of his "Me and the devil" video Eric says "Hell hound?" like he should play that...and then at the end of this video he says "me and the devil?" as in we should play that....being that these are both from the same session....mind blown...paradox created...holy hell!

I've never been able to get into Eric Clapton's take on Blues and I don't think I ever will. The guy is technically brilliant but he's about as believable as a politician during election season. When I hear the Blues I want to believe it ya dig.

Gotcha. I have heard real bluesmen & blueswomen here in NC. In my opinion there is a real difference between white folks blues and black folks blues. John Hammond is one of the best technical and most authentic white bluesman that I've heard while there are other fine white blues players out there the black blues players have the key to unlock the DNA blues gene in all of is. Please note that I didn't bring financial status into my opine, that to me doesn't matter.

I wasn't disagreeing with anything, really. I was addressing the implications of his own disapproval based on his emoticon, which made it seem as if rich men singing the blues are in some way inferior to poor black men. I think it's an all-encompassing art form, when done right, and wanted to emphasize that :)

so what's your disagreement with what coolowlbro said ? coolowlbro has his facts exactly right as they ARE rich white men singing/playing the blues.

I think it's a grave mistake to pigeonhole the blues into features as basic as financial status and skin tone. This music is (or can be) about pain, it's about frustration and heartache and the struggle to carry on when everything is piling up against you. Everyone alive has known those emotions, which is why the blues is so universal. It's in all of us.
