Alright... LYRICS! After this, lots of emcees had to change their game. One day it was acceptable to do some "yes yes yall!" and then this hit... Wooo... you have no idea! Beasties were coming out of nowhere with that white anger and it was cool.other known MCs like RunDMC were doing classics like My Adidas.Biz was making people happyBut this... There wasn;t a rapper alive that didn't stop, and listen to every syllable, flow, and delivery of this.It HONESTLY changed the game. The proof... after this, a few years later, there was a category of rapper called a "Rakim clone". So many new guys wanted to do what he was doing. B-SIDE... My Melody30 years and it STILL plays at clubs and parties.

Big Shout out goes to the homie +Modern Day Samurai 41. for posting this earlier. Hate that album version though! Love Marley Marl, but dang man! Can't I have my "wings" & "donuts"? LMAO!

This song single handedly ended many old school rappers careers and forced the remaining to up their game and up it quick. Before this it was all "now raise your hands in the air, and wave 'em like you just don't care." One rhyme per two sentences was no longer acceptable after this song.

Monumental moment in Hip Hop! The irony about this song is that it was a song about his D.J. but it Officially changed the focus from the D.J. to the M.C.! Rakim Allah set a higher and new Level of Lyricism since this Epic Classic!!!!
